"February" Layout Class...

Supplies needed:
Fancy Pants – Splendid - Desire
Fancy Pants – Splendid – Splendid Title Strips
Fancy Pants – Splendid - Sophisticated
Prima – Frosty Flowers, Popsicle
Maya Road - Flower Jewels
StazOn inkpad - Black
Kaiser stamps: Memory Boxes
Heidi Swapp – Months stamps
Bazzill Kraft cardstock

Also needed:
Scraps of white cardstock
Black charcoal inkpad (optional)
Glue (I use Herma removable)
Black journaling pen (Zig Millennium)

Start by cutting your Kraft cardstock to size. I scrap in true A4 size, so I cut mine to 29,7x21 centimetres (cm). Please feel free to adapt to another layout size if you prefer. 8.5x11 or 12x12 would work great for this too.

Pick your photos. I’m using a 15x10 cm (6x4) landscape photo and a 10x7,5 portrait photo.

Glue your photos in place. My 15x10 cm photo is 5 cm from the left edge and 5 cm from the top. My 10x7,5 photo is 3,4 cm from the bottom and 3,4 cm from the right edge. Stamp your chosen “Months” stamp above the top left corner of your large photo.

Now take your patterned papers and cut out little rectangular strips. The point here is to hand-cut and not make them perfect. Keep referring to your layout and lay them out to check for size until you’re happy and have got a border all around your photos. To give you a rough guideline my rectangles are about a cm thick…sometimes a little more, and vary between approx 2-4,5 cm long.

Once you are happy with the placement of your rectangles, glue in place and outline with a black pen.

Pick two journaling stamps and stamp with black StazOn onto some scrap white cardstock. I chose the “What A Day” and “A Moment In Time” stamps.

Write your journaling with black pen over the two stamped images, cut out, chalk the edges and glue in place on the layout.

Finish off by adding a Prima flower, some Maya Road flower jewels and finally draw a rough border with rounded corners along the outside of your layout.

I hope you enjoyed my class! Wishing you lots of fun creating your own version!

Love...

Onto the next layout that I made for the A Bakers Dozen class...

As usual, my layout is rather different from the class suggestion. I love to take the general idea and then make it "mine". :)

However the cut up ribbon heart shape was part of the original class idea. When I saw it on the page by the teacher I was not convinced. But I thought I'd give the heart a go anyway. When I had laid my ribbon pieces out on my layout, I was not convinced. After they were glued down I was still not sure. And even right now I can't make my mind up what I think of the ribbon heart LOL!

I do know that I love the combination of the blues and greens though :)

Just to give you some idea of how different I went, the teacher's page was literally a photo within the heart on cardstock (that's it) and all in pink & white.

25 Buttons Later...

We were told to gather 25 buttons. Two colours. Different shades. And put them to one side. These were later combined with some randomly selected photos. Once this was done we were "allowed" to pick some matching patterned paper and other matching embellishments.

...and that was the foundation for one of the layout classes for A Bakers Dozen (BPS class by Darci Dowdle). I didn't quite end up using all the 25 buttons, and I exchanged a few of them for jewels... And my end result is rather different from the suggested layout design too LOL!

Summer...

I know I never care about scrapping layouts "suitable to the season". I know some people love to stick to this and some people are just like me, will scrap whatever whenever. I'm very happy to scrap summer pages in the coldest of January or Christmas pages in July. It just makes me happy :)

But for today, let's have something that's totally appropriate for July - a summer layout with beach photos :)

[Supplies: Count To Four Page Template - Shimelle Laine, Long And Winding Road - Shimelle Laine, Springtime Basics Paper Pack - Shimelle Laine (all from 2Peas), Tweet Jam - Lliella Designs (from SSD)]

The layout is done as part of my Shimelle CT work.

Don't you just love that notebook paper I have used as a background? I could use it over and over again :)

Camp Scrap...

I don't think I have mentioned it before but I'm taking a new (well new to me... I *think* it might be the second time it's running?) BPS class at the moment called "Camp Scrap" by May Flaum. It's looking like a really cool class so far :)

Though it's a quite speedy class. Layouts nearly every day. Which I might normally have liked a lot :) But in the summer... well I think you should take the time to enjoy the weather a bit on nice days...

So I have decided to take a different approach to this class than normal. Instead of trying to "keep up and not get behind" (if there's such a thing!) I'm just going to take it slow and enjoy it. Do a layout here and there and let the whole class take whatever time it takes to complete. Trying (yes, I did say *trying*!!) not to stress about it :)

Above is my take on the first layout for the class. The photos are the very first photos of my niece that was born in March this year. So cute :) And can I just say that I l-o-v-e that Thickers alphabet by American Crafts - wish I'd ordered more than one pack now!

"You're So Tweet" Layout Class...

Supplies needed:
Fancy Pants – Splendid – Valentine’s Cards
Fancy Pants – Splendid - Desire
Fancy Pants – Splendid – Lovey Dovey
Fancy Pants – Splendid - Sophisticated
Basic Grey Wholy Cow Rub-ons – Heartswash White
Jewels in pale blue and aqua (I used Kaiser)
StazOn inkpad Teal Blue
Kaiser stamps: Memory Boxes
2 strands of red embroidery thread
Scalloped border punch
White pen (I find Uni-Ball Signo to be the best)

Also needed:
Scraps of white cardstock
Glue (I use Herma removable)
Black journaling pen (Zig Millennium)
Charcoal Chalk Inkpad (optional)
Cuttlebug + “Swiss Dots” embossing folder (optional)

Start by cutting your “Desire” paper to size. I scrap in true A4 size, so I cut mine to 29,7x21 centimetres (cm). Please feel free to adapt to another layout size if you prefer. 8.5x11 or 12x12 would work great for this too. We will be using the black side of this paper.

Pick your photo. I’m using a 15x10 cm (6x4) portrait photo.

Cut a heart strip from “Lovey Dovey” and a 4 cm wide strip from “Sophisticated” (emboss this with the “Swiss Dots” Cuttlebug embossing folder if you wish) and finally use the scalloped border punch along a length of scrap white cardstock.

Assemble the photo and the strips of card/paper on the layout:

Add some white Basic Grey rub-ons along the left and top side of your photo.

Using the Teal Blue ink, stamp a journaling stamp onto scrap white cardstock, journal and cut out. Also cut out the birds and the speech bubble from the “Valentine’s Cards” paper (do not bother with the bird legs, we will draw these by hand). Attach to the layout as in the photo below and use a white pen to draw the legs of the birds.

Pierce two holes at either side of the scalloped edge near the top of the layout (see holes, marked with purple, in photo below). Take your red embroidery thread and sew through a few times. Tie the ends into a bow.

Finish off by alternating pale blue and aqua jewels down the scalloped edge.

I hope you enjoyed my class! Wishing you lots of fun creating your own version!

Here We Go Again...

Remember this kit which I was drooling over and working with last week?

...well I couldn't resist it for long after that. And really, there just *had* to be a cupcake layout made using the kit... so I had no choice :)

All Of The Places To Love...

I don't know if it's the non-English in me, but that sentence just doesn't sound quite right to me. Yet it was the title that was suggested for us to use for our layout, so I guess it's correct even though it sounds a bit funny to me LOL!

This double layout was part of the A Bakers Dozen BPS class. (If you want to read my review on this class check it out here). A very, very simple layout really. Mainly title work and a little puzzling getting the photos in the order you want. But at the same time I really like these layouts with lots of square-punched photos on them :)

On Day In My Life...

Back in Oct-Dec last year I took a BPS class by Ali Edwards. One of the best classes I have taken. Not so much because we made millions of layouts... it was more like one a week, or a double layout per week. But because it's some of the "best" layouts I have done when it comes to REALLY documenting things by photos and words.

Because of scrapping in A4 size most of the time, I tend to scrap with 1-3 photos normally. I never have layouts without journaling, but at the same time they often only have a few lines... a small journaling block somewhere is very common on my layouts. So to make these layouts rich on both words and photos has been great!

I still go back visiting the class and do a layout here and there when I can fit them in. This is the latest one where we were invited to document a day in out life. I did the journaling and took the photos back in December but only made the layout this week. Already a few months later and it's SO interesting to see what a day back in December was like and what is already different in our daily habits compared with today :)

Bring On The Cake...

How great is this kit (and title)? :)

Yummy, eh? It's by Kate Hadfield, Karah Fredricks and Kaye Winiecki and it's available right now in the Lilypad store.

I love the colours of this kit and I love the cute cake & cupcake doodles by Kate. As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to get it and do some work with it. I'm sure it won't be the last time you'll see me using this particular kit :)
